Team Margot Stem Cell and Bone Marrow Awareness Day is a global initiative dedicated to raising awareness about the importance of stem cell and bone marrow donations. This annual event is scheduled for Monday, 07th October 2024, and aims to educate people about the life-saving potential of these treatments.
History and Background
Team Margot was founded in memory of Margot Martini, a young girl who tragically passed away from Leukemia in 2013, after waiting for a matching stem cell donor. Her parents, who were both unrelated donors, decided to start Team Margot to raise awareness about the need for more potential donors and to make a difference in the lives of others who are going through similar struggles.
Why is it Important?
Stem cell and bone marrow transplants are crucial for the survival of many people with various diseases, including leukemia, lymphoma, and other forms of cancer. Unfortunately, a large number of patients are unable to find matching donors due to the genetic diversity of the population. This is where we need your help – by joining the Team Margot stem cell register, you can become a potential lifesaver for someone in need.
